SZ-4 woven in Stainless with Black Oxide secondary finish

The Biergarten at Laguardia's Delta Terminal C opened in June 2013. The 2,900 square foot bar, open to the main concourse, features local and global craft beers along with a German based menu. The signage and ceiling element utilizes Banker Wire's SZ-4 woven wire mesh coated in black oxide. The weaves of the SZ-4 change with the viewer's angle.

Banker Wire’s stainless steel is often used in both architectural and industrial applications, but can be used in many varying ways. The vast number of specific types and grades of stainless steels can be manufactured as different types of wire mesh to improve performance in corrosion resistance, formability, and aesthetics. Stainless steel is basic steel, but with the addition of chromium. The chromium produces an oxide layer at the surface that is known as the “Passive layer”. This passive layer protects and prevents further corrosion.  Other metals such as nickel, molybdenum, titanium, manganese are added throughout the many types of stainless steels.

In addition, this Biergarten project utilizes a Black Oxide secondary finish to add a final touch of decoration and functionality. A black oxide finish is performed using a batch creation process during the base metal finishing process. Some finishes their color may vary, but they are ready to install or be used in your fabrication process.
