This newly built residence is an interior design model that combines modern elegance with functionality. The open-plan layout, high ceilings, and large windows make this space so bright, airy, and so inviting. Upper-level flooring and railing in dark tones add a further streak of sophistication to an already enhanced contemporary vibe of the space. With all of the open space in this home, the homeowners wanted to keep as much open feel as possible with the aesthetics.
Using the Banker Wire WDZ-49 welded wire mesh, they installed railing infills powder coated in Raven Black for their home. The welded wire railing works great for anyone looking to install some durable, low-maintenance material into their house, allowing light to flow through the space. Here, they complement the natural woods used for the stairs and flooring, creating a warm look for the design. The sleekness of the metal juxtaposed against the organic wood adds depth and character, making the space feel contemporary yet timeless.
The minimalism in the design is combined with an industrial edge to create an open and inviting space. Wire mesh railings are used, which gives a lot of texture and visual interest. The grid-like pattern gives an element of organization and order while still having lots of natural light flow through the home. This combination of elements brings about a very functional yet aesthetically pleasing design.
The homeowners mentioned the reason for their decision: “Choosing wire mesh railings over traditional wood or drywall was the best decision we could have made for our home. They add a great modern, almost industrial touch that complements our minimalist design. And because of the openness of the floor plan, it keeps the space light while still offering safety. We couldn’t be happier with the result!”
The WDZ-49 welded wire mesh railings functionally provide a safe and robust barrier without obstructing views or light. This is particularly important in open-concept designs, as shown here, where there are spaces that would greatly suffer if anything were to make them appear cluttered. The railings draw the eye upward to the high ceilings, highlighting the architectural detail on the upper level and keeping the space connected and cohesive.
